Dental Pharmacology

Dental pharmacology is the study of drugs used to treat conditions of the oral cavity. Some of these drugs include antibiotics, analgesics, anti-inflammatory drugs and anti-Periodontitis agents. Dental pharmacology studies the effects of drugs and their use for preventive, diagnostic and therapy. Clinical pharmacology studies the effects of drugs and their use for preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. It is an interdisciplinary field that requires integration of physiology and pathophysiology. Assessment of the benefits and potential risks of drug administration and abuse, drug interactions and individual variability to drug response are also areas particularly relevant in clinical settings.
